Jakarta Gets Title of Best City to Travel in 2024 by Lonely Planet

Jakarta – Some time ago, Jakarta city was included in the list of recommended destinations for tourists to visit in 2024 by the United States travel magazine, Lonely Planet.
In the list, Indonesia got in seventh position out of 10 selected cities around the world.
"Last year, we won through Raja Ampat as one of the unwind destinations. But this year, thank God, through Jakarta, it became the Best Cities to Travel," said Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno through an official statement, on Wednesday.
"This award is a significant momentum for Jakarta to gain a new identity. From a capital city to a world destination that must be visited by travelers," the Minister continued.

Jakarta, one of the most populous cities in the world, has a variety of tourist attractions. Travelers can enjoy cheap shopping destinations in Tanah Abang to luxury in prestigious malls such as Grand Indonesia, to city tours at night in the South Jakarta area.
In addition, tourists can also hunt for typical and legendary creative economy products at Sarinah, to famous culinary areas in the Blok M, Pecenongan, Pasar Baru, Mangga Dua, and Kelapa Gading areas.
In addition to culinary tourism, Jakarta also has a lot of potential for the development of historical, cultural, and natural tourism.

Tourists can visit various museums to the National Monument to find out the ins and outs of Indonesia's long history. As well as visiting the mangrove area in Angke Kapuk, North Jakarta.
Meanwhile, Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Ni Made Ayu Marthini explained that based on statistics, from January to June 2023, Jakarta was visited by 798,163 foreign tourists.
"Lonely Planet's recognition of Jakarta as One of the Best Cities to Visit in 2024, along with the plan to relocate the new capital city, shows that Jakarta is getting cooler as a world-class tourism destination," she expressed.
