President Jokowi Awards Title of National Hero to Six Figures

Jakarta – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) awarded the title of national hero in 2023 to six figures. The awarding was carried out at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Friday.
The conferment was made based on Presidential Decree Number 115/TK/Year 2023 on the Awarding of National Hero Titles stipulated in Jakarta, on November 6, 2023.
"As an award and high respect for his extraordinary services, who during his lifetime had led and carried out armed struggles or political struggles or struggles in other fields to achieve, seize, defend, and fill independence, as well as realize national unity and integrity," wrote a statement from the Presidential Decree.
The six figures who were awarded the title of national hero in the commemorate of Heroes' Day 2023 are:
1. The late Ida Dewa Agung Jambe, a figure from Bali Province;
2. The late Bataha Santiago, a figure from North Sulawesi Province;
3. The late Mohammad Tabrani, a figure from East Java Province;
4. The late Ratu Kalinyamat, a figure from Central Java Province;
5. The late K.H. Abdul Chalim, a figure from West Java Province; and
6. The late K.H. Ahmad Hanafiah, a figure from Lampung Province.
Awarding Honorary Bintang Jasa
In addition, President Jokowi also conferred the Honorary Star of Merit to the President of the International Football Federation (FIFA) Giovanni Vincenzo Infantino or Gianni Infantino.
This award is based on the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 70/TK/Year 2023 on the Awarding of Honorary Bintang Jasa Pratama, which was stipulated in Jakarta, on 7 August 2023.
"As an award for his great service in certain fields or events that are beneficial to the safety, welfare, and greatness of the nation and state, his sacrifice in the sports field is beneficial to the nation and state," read a statement from the Presidential Decree.
"His dharmabakti and services that are widely recognized at the national level, as well as foreign citizens who have made great contributions to the Indonesian nation and state," it continued.
The awarding ceremony ended with the Head of State congratulating the heirs of the 2023 National Hero title recipients and the recipients of the Republic of Indonesia Honor Roll.
Also attending the event were Vice President; Ma'ruf Amin, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs; Mahfud MD, Minister of Youth and Sports; Dito Ariotedjo, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises; Erick Thohir, Minister of Religious Affairs; Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, and Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board; Bahlil Lahadalia.
