TNI Commander Deploys 446,516 Personnel to Secure 2024 Elections

Jakarta – The Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) Commander Admiral Yudo Margono has revealed that 44,516 personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force will be prepared to help secure the 2024 elections.
"TNI to deploy 446,516 personnel to support the security operations in the General Election implementation," Margono said during a session with the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
The number of personnel will be divided to secure all stages of the election that have been prepared and planned by the General Elections Commission (KPU). TNI personnel will assist the National Police in securing the elections.
The personnel readied to secure the elections will be spread throughout Indonesia, including the Military Regional Command (Kodam), Military Sub-Area Command (Korem), Military District Command (Kodim), Fleet Command (Koarmada), and Air Operations Command (Koopsud).
"And also (personnel) at the bases of the Navy and the Air Force," Margono remarked.
In addition to deploying personnel, the TNI will also ready its primary weapons system (Alutsista) to help secure the elections, Margono remarked adding that the number of Alutsista will be adjusted to the needs of the election security plan.
"We will prepare the existing armament system to support election logistics. We are usually involved in distributing (the logistics) to the outer islands in every election,"
He said that the Indonesian Military has allocated a budget of IDR 450 billion to secure the elections next year.
"TNI has submitted a contingency budget of IDR 250 billion to the Ministry of Defense, which will be used for dealing with contingencies in 2024," Margono continued.
He said that the contingency budget will be used for a number of operations, including regional defense operations in Papua, search and rescue operations, and VVIP security.
