Jakarta – The Ministry of Religious Affairs continues to encourage the Government of Saudi Arabia regarding the additional hajj quota obtained by Indonesia to be included in E-Hajj.Â
Minister of Religious Affairs, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said that the ministry should prepare properly for the next Hajj pilgrimage.Â
"We are still coordinating with the Saudi Arabian government to ensure the inclusion of the additional Hajj quota to the E-Hajj system," Minister Qoumas remarked during a meeting with Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Monday, as reported from Antara site.Â
Indonesia got an additional Hajj quota of 20,000 from the normal 2024 quota of 221 thousand people. The additional quota was given when President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited Saudi Arabia some time ago.Â
Minister Qoumas explained that information on the additional quota has not yet appeared in the E-Hajj system, which contains various kinds of information related to pilgrimage, including quotas for pilgrims and officers.Â
"As with the additional 2023 hajj quota, the quota can only be confirmed if it has been entered into E-Hajj," the Minister said.Â
The plan is that the additional hajj quota will be distributed for regular pilgrims as many as 18,400 people or 92 percent and a special hajj quota of 1,600 people or 8 percent.
According to the Minister, if the additional hajj quota is confirmed in the near future before the payment of hajj fees, then the distribution of the quota will be carried out simultaneously with the regular hajj quota.
The additional regular Hajj quota will be filled by the next regular pilgrims, who have never performed Hajj or have performed Hajj at least 10 years since the last departure.
"And those being at least 18 years of age on May 13 of 2024 or having married," Minister Quomas concluded.Â
