Indonesia Now Has 33 Cases of Monkeypox

Jakarta – Currently, there are 33 cases of monkeypox in Indonesia and three cases have been reported recovered, according to the Director of Health Surveillance and Quarantine, Ministry of Health, dr. Achmad Farchanny Tri Adryanto.
"As of November 2, 2023, there are 33 monkeypox cases, recovered three cases, suspected 14 cases, discarded 78 cases," Adryanto said on Friday.
Of the 33 cases of monkeypox in Indonesia, the most cases were found in Jakarta; 26 cases.
"In Jakarta; 26 cases, Tangerang Regency; 2 cases, Tangerang City; 1 case, South Tangerang City; 2 cases, Bandung City; 1 case, and Bekasi City; 1 case," said Adriyanto.

Of the additional cases, it's known that the patient is currently undergoing isolation and is in a stable condition. On the other hand, the additional patient has a history of sexual intercourse with Men who have Sex with Men (MSM).

Director General of Disease Prevention and Control Maxi Rein Rondonuwu revealed that the Monkeypox vaccine will be targeted at 477 people.

"We have prepared the vaccination since the end of last year. Recently, only 1,000 doses, we estimate 477 targets because this is for two doses, we still prioritize certain groups (MSM) because we only have 1,000 vaccines," Rondonuwu said.
Rondonuwu continued, this vaccination has been carried out since October 23 and 157 people have come to the public health center to be vaccinated.
"We prioritize MSM and those who have had sex in the last two weeks. It started last October 23, 157 people have come, the place is in four to five health centers in Jakarta because it’s limited."
