IKN Airport Can Be Used Before the Official Change of President

Kalimantan – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially inaugurated the start of the construction of the Nusantara Capital Airport in East Kalimantan Province on Wednesday. Even, the Head of State targets the airport will be available for use in June 2024.Â
"We are groundbreaking the construction of the IKNÂ airport which is targeted to be fully operational in December 2024. However, it can already be used in June 2024," the Head of State said in a teleconference via YouTube at the Presidential Secretariat, on Wednesday.Â
The President believes that the IKN Airport can support various kinds of work, and activities carried out in the IKN Nusantara.Â

Moreover, the traffic of people and goods to and from the IKN Nusantara project site will certainly increase in the future.
Therefore, President Jokowi also hopes that the IKN Airport can make the IKN Nusantara area more open, and easily accessible from any region.
In addition, the Head of State also claimed to be optimistic that the presence of the IKN airport will also contribute to economic growth, and encourage the development of other economic potential in each region around the IKN Nusantara.
The President remarked: "The presence of this airport is very important, considering the increasingly dense activities carried out at IKN. In the future, there will be more mobility of people and goods to and from IKN,"Â
"This IKN airport is an airport that is specifically used, to support government activity services in IKN and support connectivity in IKN Nusantara," the President concluded.Â
