Jakarta – The Indonesian Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi attended the groundbreaking of Jakarta LRT Phase 1B on the Velodrome Rawamangun - Manggarai route. This public transportation is targeted to start operating in 2026.
Minister believes the Acting Governor of Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono will boost the realization of the construction of the LRT on the Velodrome Rawamangun – Manggarai route.
"I'm obviously sure, the Acting Governor of Jakarta will not waste one year in office, to complete one stage of the construction of the Jakarta LRT," Minister Sumadi said at Velodrome Station, Jakarta.
According to the Minister of Transportation, if the construction of LRT Phase 1B on the Velodrome Rawamangun –Manggarai route is not immediately realized in stages starting from now, the construction process could be further delayed in the future.
"If it is not completed in stages, it could take up to a dozen years before construction begins," the Minister of Transportation said.
With the construction of LRT Jakarta Phase 1B, the Minister hopes that mass transportation in Jakarta and its surroundings will be more integrated.
So, it can also further increase public interest, to use mass transportation rather than private vehicle.
"With the increasing length of the LRT Jakarta route, it is expected that the number of passengers will increase. That way it can reduce congestion, reduce financial losses, and improve the environment," the Minister stated.
As information, LRT Jakarta Phase 1B has a route span of 6.4 km which has five stations. They are Rawamangun Youth Station, Pramuka BPKP Station, Pramuka Market Station, Matraman Station, and Manggarai Station.
Meanwhile, the Phase 1A LRT that is already in operation has 6 stations, namely Pegangsaan Dua Station, North Boulevard Station, South Boulevard Station, Pulomas Station, Equestrian Station, and Velodrome Station.
