Jokowi Approves His Eldest Son as Vice Presidential Candidate

Jakarta – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has approved his eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, to become a vice-presidential candidate, the running mate of Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 elections.
Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana revealed that President Jokowi has granted permission to Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is also his son, to be nominated as a vice-presidential candidate by a joint political party.
"This approval was issued in response to the request of the Mayor of Solo, submitted in a letter dated October 23, 2023," Dwipayana said through a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Earlier, Mayor Raka sent a letter to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) through the Ministry of State Secretariat, related to the contestants of the 2024 Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections.
"On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, the Ministry of State Secretariat received a letter requesting permission from the Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, for the Indonesian President," Dwipayana remarked.
According to Dwipayana, Raka sent a letter regarding his candidacy as a candidate for Vice President of Indonesia to accompany Prabowo Subianto, who is nominated as a candidate for the Indonesian President in the 2024 Election.
"Nominated by a political party or a coalition of political parties as a Vice-Presidential Candidate in the 2024 Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections," Dwipayana stated.
Meanwhile, the Advanced Indonesia Coalition has endorsed Prabowo as a candidate for President of Indonesia in 2024.
"We have discussed in a final, consensus deliberation; we all agreed to support Prabowo Subianto as the 2024/2029 presidential candidate and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the vice-presidential candidate of the Fair and Prosperous Indonesia Coalition," Prabowo said last Sunday night.
