Jakarta – The Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) helped finance the export of six units of NC212i aircraft made by Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) worth US$79 million. The aircraft was ordered by the Philippines' Department of National Defense/Armed Forces of the Philippines (DND/AFP).

LPEI Business Development Director Maqin U. Norhadi said that the export of these six aircraft is a matter of pride for Indonesia. Because PTDI can produce strategic industrial products with high technological value and LPEI as a Government instrument is present to provide financing solutions.

"Aircraft exports will increase Indonesia's reputation in the global eyes, especially Indonesian companies that are members of the aerospace strategic industry which is full of high technology," Norhadi said in a statement on Thursday.

LPEI's support was contained in the signing of an Export Financing Agreement between LPEI and PTDI for the procurement of six NC212i aircraft, he added.

Maqin also explained, "LPEI carried out the Special Export Assignment (PKE) program from the Government to support the growth of the Indonesian aerospace industry to have high competitiveness,"

"This is in line with LPEI's strategy to strengthen Indonesia's export ecosystem,"

Until now, LPEI has distributed PKE programs worth IDR 12 trillion to support the export of more than 80 products to more than 100 countries.

Meanwhile, Dirgantara Indonesia's Director of Finance, Risk Management and Human Resources, Wildan Arief, explained that PTDI highly appreciates LPEI's support in PTDI's NC212i aircraft sales program to the Philippines.

The Philippines has ordered PTDI's production aircraft for the second time, which is proof that PTDI's production aircraft have high and reliable performance.

"We hope that this financing solution from LPEI can be an opening tap for more exports of PTDI production aircraft to other countries which in turn can increase foreign exchange. We hope PTDI can rise again, fly high, and continue to fly," Arief remarked.

Previously, LPEI had provided two export working capital facilities to support the implementation of PTDI's contract with Nepal in the form of one unit of CN235-220 Military Transport worth US$30 million and PTDI's contract with Senegal in the form of 1 unit of CN235-220 Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) worth US$24 million, both of which have been successfully delivered in 2021.
