Indonesia-Saudi Arabia Agree to Form Supreme Coordination Council

VIVA – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of the Saudi Arabia KIngdom, Mohammed bin Salman al-Saud at Al Yamamah, Riyadh on Thursday.

They discussed about how strong the relationship between both countries. The discussion also focused on bilateral cooperation, such as forming the Saudi-Indonesian Supreme Coordination Council. 

"Amid an increasingly divided world situation, the relationship that bridged two countries is so needed," the President in a statement on Friday.

Moreover in this meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Saudi-Indonesian Supreme Coordination Council Agreement was signed by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi.

Also, several cooperation agreements were signed, such as the National Standardization Agency and the Standardization, Metrology, and Quality Organization of Saudi Arabia, an agreement on halal products, and an agreement on the youth and sports sector.

As information, in this meeting, President Jokowi also invited the Saudi government to participate in stopping the Israel-Palestine war. 

"It's time for the world to unite to stop escalation, prioritize humanitarian issues, and resolve root causes by agreed international parameters," the President asked.
