Lombok – The 2023 MotoGP event in Mandalika Circuit, Lombok was completed on Sunday despite the extremely hot weather with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius.
The Aprilia Racing team has an unusual way of dealing with the heat of the Mandalika Circuit, especially when in the Paddock area.
Aprilia Racing Sports Manager, Dario Raimondi said that his team had an unusual way to build the Paddock area which was only assembled in less than 4 hours.
"It was quite hot in the Paddock area. So we needed a lot of salt to reduce the heat. We could have spent millions of rupiahs to buy salt in large quantities," said Raimondi, in a statement.
Raimondi stated that the Aprilia Racing team also uses freezers to store fuel. The fuel must always be 15 degrees below the current temperature.
"We buy a freezer to put gasoline because fuel must always be 15 degrees below the current temperature, for example, the weather is currently 30 degrees, meaning that gasoline must be 15 degrees,"
The Aprilia Racing paddock was also built in a short time, by the race team's crew. All materials are always brought to any circuit they visit.
"The Aprilia garage is built in about four hours. So for example, if you come at 9 am, you have to be ready by 1 pm. And who has to get up? The team without exception," Raimondi said.
They are even thinking of making the walls out of carbon, making them lighter and cheaper to ship.
"It's not just the placement of the goods that's considered, but also the cost," He informed.
As information, the rider of Aprilia Racing, Maverick Vinales successfully got the podium in second position.
