Jokowi Praises Indonesia for Beating Brunei Darussalam 6-0

Jakarta – Indonesia national football team managed to beat Brunei Darussalam 6-0 in the 2026 World Cup Qualifier at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium, on Thursday.
The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), who also watched the match live, praised the result.
“It is really entertaining because of the score. I think this is a good start since we will have another match in Brunei,” the Head of State said in a statement after the match, in Jakarta, on Thursday.

During the match, the Indonesian national team’s first goal was scored by Dimas Drajad in the 7th minute. Indonesia’s second goal scored in the 11th minute after Saddil Ramdani’s corner kick was well finished by Rizky Ridho.
In the second half, Indonesia stepped up their attack and scored four more goals. Ramadhan Sananta, who just entered into game the second half, scored two goals, one from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute and the other in the 67th minute.

Dimas Drajad successfully completed a hat-trick after scoring two additional goals in the 72nd and 90+2nd minutes. President Widodo said that all national team players played nicely.
“Everyone did a great job with the teamwork, but the entry of Ramadhan Sananta into the second half of the game somewhat changed the pattern of the game,” the President praised.
For the record, the Indonesian national football team will go to Brunei Darussalam for the first round of Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
