Baduy Dalam Officially Becomes a Blank Spot Region

Banten – The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information has announced that the Baduy Dalam tribe, located in Banten has officially cut off all internet connection and become a blank spot.
This decision is based on the request of the regional government to terminate all telecommunications channels in the area.
Anik Sakinah, Head of the Communication and Informatics Office of Lebak Regency, at the Lebak Regent Hall, said that the internet was officially turned off for the Inner Baduy tribe in Kanekes Village, Leuwidamar District, Lebak Regency, Banten.
"Before the internet network was officially turned off, representatives of the Baduy tribe and the government had a meeting, so there was an agreement on which areas the internet network was turned off," Sakinah explained.
"There was an agreement, according to Ulayat Baduy, they asked for Inner Baduy only, it has been implemented by the ministry, it is the authority of the Ministry of Communication and Information," Sakinah continued.
The Baduy Dalam area became a blank spot because the internet signal coming from the Base Transceiver Station tower was deflected so that it did not enter Kanekes Village. The signal deflection is done by the provider, based on a request from the Ministry of Communication and Information.
Although some points still have internet networks, the level is weak. Because the entire area of the Inner Baduy Tribe can't be completely blank spot.
Moreover, Jaro Saija, one of the leaders of the tribe, explained that while the Internet brings many positive impacts, it also has many negative impacts on the Baduy people.
Some Baduy people think that the Internet has an impact that goes against the Baduy Tribe's morals and values.
