Minister Gives Two Strategies to Increase Sales in Domestic Market

Jakarta – The Indonesian Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, admitted that the government already has strategies to increase sales in the domestic market. In this case, there are two strategies. 

"There are two strategies that can be done to increase sales in the domestic market," Minister Hasan said on Tuesday. 

First, the Government will regulate the import of foreign goods entering Indonesia. 

"If there are many imports, domestic industrial SMEs can be depressed. We will regulate so that imports do not fill our market." 

In addition, the Government will change the supervision of imported goods from the post border to the back border. This is one of the Government's steps to create a healthy business climate. 

"So if imports are checked first, see whether there is Indonesian National Standard (SNI) or not, whether there is a distribution permit or not, whether there is a certificate or not. We will tighten it," the Minister explained.  

Second, the Government will regulate e-commerce traders who sell their merchandise at low prices, "The existence of cheap sales puts pressure on offline traders."

"Second, we will regulate online traders who sell their products at low prices," the Trade Minister emphasized.
