Jakarta – FIFA considered to use the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) or now known as Whoosh to become transportation that connects two venues of U-17 World Cup, in Jakarta and Bandung.
Responding to this, the Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) appreciated FIFA's decision, because Whoosh can provide efficiency in terms of time.
"Whoosh offers efficiency in terms of time. Its presence will help organize the U-17 World Cup, especially in mobilizing the people in two cities," Thohir said through a PSSI statement, in Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Later, Whoosh will be used for participants, Local Organizing Committee (LOC) personnel, and also FIFA to move between cities during the U-17 World Cup.
According to Thohir, the Jakarta-Bandung distance is closer because the fast train is ready to be used for the U-17 World Cup, "We have conveyed this message to FIFA so that they do not hesitate to maximize it,"
Time efficiency is the key to the U-17 continuation in Indonesia. This is because Groups C, D, E, and F will play their cross-over matches to decide their group stage fate in Jakarta and Bandung at the same time on Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 18, 2023.
The Group C (Brazil, Iran, New Caledonia, England) and E (France, Burkina Faso, South Korea, and USA) preliminary matches will take place at the Jakarta International Stadium.
Meanwhile, Group D (Japan, Poland, Argentina, Senegal) and Group F (Mexico, Germany, Venezuela and New Zealand) matches will be staged at the Jalak Harupat Stadium.
The Jakarta venue will play two round of 16 matches and two quarterfinal matches. Meanwhile, Bandung will host two eighth-final matches.
As information, Whoosh has been inaugurated by Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Monday, at the Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Train Station.
The Great System is the first fast train in Indonesia and Southeast Asia that can travel up to 350 kilometers per hour.
