Indonesian Relay Swimmers Qualify for Asian Games Final

Huangzhou – The Indonesian swimming team qualified for the Hangzhou Asian Games 4x100m mixed relay final after finishing fourth in heat 2 on Wednesday.
Masniari Wolf, Muhammad Dwiky Raharjo, Joe Aditya W Kurniawan, and Angel Gabriela Yus clocked 4:01.49 in the mixed relay, 15.82 seconds adrift of the fastest Chinese swimmer in heat 2.
Indonesia's time was the second slowest of the eight finalists after Chinese Taipei when six opponents namely Hong Kong, South Korea, China, Japan, Kazakhstan and Singapore were able to break the four-minute mark.
Team China is the strongest candidate for gold with a time of 3:45.67 followed by Japan (3:47.94) and Kazakhstan (3:52.82) in Wednesday night's final.
Previously in individual numbers, Joe Aditya Wijaya Kurniawan failed to penetrate the preliminary round of the men's 100-meter dressing style after finishing 54.40 seconds in sixth place in the heat, 2.52 seconds adrift of Japanese swimmer Katsuhiro Matsumoto.
Then the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games champion Masniari Wolf also dropped in the second number she participated in Hangzhou, namely the women's 100m backstroke, as well as Angel Gabriella Yus in the same number.
Masniari Wolf clocked 1:05.54 while Angel with 1:03.33 was fifth in each heat.
Karel Nicholas Subagyo also had to be eliminated from the preliminary round of the men's 200m freestyle after having to recognize the superiority of Korean swimmer Hojoon Lee who was 3.86 seconds ahead of him.
