Jokowi Appreciates Indonesian Farmers for Domestic Rice Supplies

Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed his gratitude to Indonesian farmers for their hard work in maintaining domestic rice supplies in the midst of the El Nino phenomenon.Â
"Many parts of the world, including Indonesia are facing the El Nino climate phenomenon that affects water availability and agricultural productivity," the Head of State expressed through his official Instagram account on Monday.Â
According to President Widodo, in the midst of that unusual climate threat, Indonesian agriculture remains productive.Â
"Thanks to the hard work of farmers, supply in markets and stock of rice in our warehouses remains sufficient to withstand the dry months," President Jokowi wrote.Â
Two weeks ago, the Head of State visited rice warehouses at Perum Bulog and it’s known the national rice stock this month reached two million tons. This is relatively more than the normal stock of around 1.2 million tons.
At the 2023 National Farmer's Day, President Jokowi posted an image showing various illustrations of agricultural activities in Indonesia, such as farmers harvesting grain and fruit, farmers picking tea shoots, farmers working on rice fields, and the use of advanced technology in the agricultural ecosystem.
The image also includes the phrase Happy National Farmer's Day.
Moreover, According to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, the National Farmer's Day which is celebrated every September 24, begins with the publication of Basic Agrarian Law on September 24, 1960.Â
Therefore, on Sunday, Indonesia celebrated 63 years of farmers' struggle. Thank you to Indonesian farmers.Â
