Kalimantan – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Saturday emphasized that the Government will prepare plans to control social media-based electronic commerce (e-commerce).
"This is just being prepared, later it will be finalized at the Ministry of Trade," the Head of State said after inspecting the Presidential Regional Road (IJD) in Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan, on Saturday.
"This will be regulated immediately because it can have an impact on micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia and also economic activities in the market," the President added.
The Head of Sate also said: "We know, this will have an impact on MSMEs, on the market as well."
President Jokowi said that the regulation being drafted will regulate between social media and trading or economic platforms.
Previously, President Jokowi also said that business on the TikTok platform has reduced the sales of many small, micro-business owners and market traders. This is because the price of products sold on E-Commerce is much cheaper.
According to the President, TikTok is only used as a social media for the community. Not as an economic medium.
"It (TikTok) should be a social media, not an economic media," the President said.
