Jakarta – The Indonesian government officially announced the name of the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train (KCJB). 'WHOOSH was chosen as the name of the train with a maximum speed of 350km/h.
The Head of the Assessment panel for the Indonesia Fast Train Brand Identity (name and logo) competition, Triawan Munaf, explained that the acronym 'WHOOSH' stands for 'Time Saving, Optimal Operation, Reliable System'.
"So, the name is WHOOSH," Triawan Munaf said in a teleconference on Thursday.
"The selection of this name was chosen by the team by what was expressed by many people when trying this train directly."
Munaf hopes the word WHOOSH will become a term of its own in the future, for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail transportation.
"The one-syllable word WHOOSH will become a name attached to its users," Munaf said.
"If in Japan there is Shinkansen, in Indonesia there is WHOOSH," he added.
Furthermore, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi admitted that he was surprised by the name WHOOSH. He considered the name to be good even when compared to Japan's Shinkansen high-speed train.
"I was surprised to get the word WHOOSH. It actually looks good," Minister expressed.
