Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium Becomes Opening Venue for U-17 World Cup

Surabaya – The opening ceremony of the U-17 World Cup 2023 will take place at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya on November 10, and is being prepared festively.Â
"The opening will be very interesting because it will be the first symbol of organizing the World Cup in Indonesia, so it must be lively and unforgettable," the PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir said in an official statement on Saturday.Â
Last Friday, FIFA made a draw for group division and divided the venue for the U-17 World Cup.Â
As known, the U-17 World Cup will be held from November 10 to December 2. Four venues will be used such as Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), North Jakarta, Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (SJH), Bandung Regency, Manahan Stadium, Solo, and Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya.
According to the results of the draw, the Indonesian U-17 national team is in Group A with the Ecuadorian national team, Panama national team, and Morocco national team.Â
In addition, the Indonesian national team will play at Solo's Manahan Stadium. Meanwhile, Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) will be played by Group B, namely the Spanish national team, Canadian national team, Mali national team, and Uzbekistan national team.
At first, U-17 World Cup opening will be held at Jakarta International Stadium (JIS). However, as sourced by the official PSSI website on Monday, the opening will be held at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya.
The opening of the U-17 World Cup will last for 12 minutes before play against the Ecuadorian national team on November 10, 2023.Â
As more information, Indonesia was appointed as the host of the U-17 World Cup which will take place on November 10 to December 2.Â
