Jakarta – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked people do not have to be worry about technological advances, especially the present of artificial intelligence (AI).
"I ask you not to be afraid of technology, do not avoid technological change. Don't be worry of AI technology," the President said when delivering remarks at the 60th IPB Dies Natalis open session on Friday.
President Jokowi explained that in meetings with other countries in the G7 to the ASEAN Summit, many country leaders claimed to be worried about AI technology.
"In G7, G20, ASEAN Summit. Everyone talks about AI technology. Regulations do not yet exist, rules of the game do not yet exist. Everything was discussed. So, we must anticipate and prepare ourselves," the President said.
President Jokowi emphasized that people should not be afraid of the presence of AI technology, "Technology will not be able to defeat humans. Because machines only have chips, but humans have hearts, have feelings, machines don't have it,"
The President also expressed: "I believe that the creation of Allah will always be superior and more noble."
As information, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has several models that are used in real-world applications such as Virtual Assistant, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Computer Vision.
Anto Satriyo Nugroho as Head of Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security BRIN, Anto Satriyo Nugroho in the Insight Interview Program through YouTube VIVA on last June, said that AI is only used for daily life.
"AI helps human tasks, many jobs are helped by AI, for example medicine, but AI will not replace doctors. It's not easy for the knowledge and experience that doctors have to be translated into formulations that are translated by computers," Nugroho explained.
"AI is helpful if the work is repetitive and does not require innovation or ideas. We have to be able to distinguish which ones can be replaced by AI and which ones cannot be replaced by AI," he disclosed.
