Singapore – The President Commissioner of VKTR Mobility Technology (VKTR), Anindya Novyan Bakrie revealed that Indonesia is currently trying to adopt the use of electric vehicle (EV). Therefore, VKTR as a pioneering electric mobility company is committed to developing the electric vehicle ecosystem

Currently, VKTR is working with Transjakarta in providing electric buses for public transportation purposes. 

"VKTR's initial focus is public transportation, especially buses. The Indonesian market includes around 200,000 buses, with Jakarta alone having 10,000 buses," Bakrie said at the forum 'Guitting Coal Turkey: Accelerating the Transition to Clean Energy' in Singapore, on Wednesday.

Hence, Anindya Bakrie confirmed that Indonesia is currently heading towards electrification. This transformation promises benefits not only for the environment, but also for public health.

"For one, about 25 percent of carbon dioxide emissions in Jakarta come from land transportation," Bakrie informed. 

With the Bakrie Group's 47 years of experience in the automotive parts business, Bakrie emphasized that it's currently building one of the largest electric bus and truck factories in Southeast Asia.

In addition, Bakrie also explained that it has built a battery factory for EV, to support the implementation of zero emissions in its business activities. 

"I believe that we are not alone in this endeavor. We are actively involved in helping markets in the western region, by establishing a 120 Gwh capacity battery factory," Anindya Bakrie said. 

"This facility will use raw materials that are compliant with ESG standards. The scale of this endeavor is huge, as we are continue to contribute to the production of approximately two million cars per year," Bakrie added.
