Jakarta – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed that the government will not give a subsidy for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail (KCJB) ticket prices.Â
"There's no subsidy," the Head of State said on Wednesday.Â
According to the President, the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train ticket price will be determined by Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC). Then, the ticket costs will be determined with the right calculations.Â
"Later, it will determine the management of the fast train based on consultation with the Ministry of Transportation. There are calculations," President Widodo remarked.Â
Most importantly, the Head of State invites people to switch from private vehicles to public transportation, including switching to the Jakarta-Bandung fast train.Â
"The fast train facility has been completed several percent and the train is ready," the President said.Â
"We just want to encourage people to move from cars to mass transportation, both fast trains, MRT, LRT, and buses," the President added.Â
President Widodo also expressed: "I see it is good, 92 percent of the facilities, the train is ready. The public must feel it first, try it first, and then determine their attitude. Feel it first, 350 km/h 35 minutes from Halim to Padalarang,"
The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train (KCJB) tariff package proposed by Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) is IDR 300 thousand per passenger. The package includes LRT and feeder train transportation services.
KCIC President Director Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi said that this was only a proposal that still needed to be discussed with other operators, KAI and LRT.
"We propose IDR 300 thousand, already with the feeder, LRT. But we are still discussing with KAI and LRT," Riyadi said at Halim Fast Train Station, Jakarta, on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the Jakarta-Bandung fast train trial with Indonesian President Jokowi.
The fare for the high-speed train alone, without feeder trains and LRT, is proposed at IDR 250,000 per passenger for the premium economy class. In addition to these two ticket categories, KCIC also proposes dynamic fares for the main class and business class. these are different segments.
"The problem is that the main class and business class will use dynamic pricing. Because the segments are different," Riyadi emphasized.Â
All of this is still a proposal, KCIC is still discussing the amount of fast train fares with the Ministry of Transportation, Kereta Api Indonesia or KAI, and other related parties, such as the Jakarta LRT.
