Melbourne – The Consulate General of Indonesia hosted the "ASEAN Day 2023 Celebration" last Friday at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Melbourne. This event successfully unites diverse cultures, ideas, and talents to celebrate the spirit of ASEAN.Â
"ASEAN Day is an occasion for us to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation among our ASEAN representative countries right here in Melbourne. It's a platform for our international students to showcase their talents and ideas," said the Consul General of Indonesia, Kuncoro Waeso, on Friday, September 8, 2023.Â
Moreover, The heart of the event featured presentations by talented international students: Aulia Hanifah from Indonesia, a student at the University of Melbourne, shared her insights on "Driving Digital Health Transformation to Enhance Economic Connectivity in ASEAN: Prospects and Indonesia’s Leadership."Â
She highlighted the role of technology in improving healthcare and economic connectivity within the region.
Then, Shiao Lu from Malaysia, also studying at the University of Melbourne, delivered a compelling presentation on "Education as a Bridge for Economic Growth and Innovation within ASEAN."Â
She discussed how education can drive economic growth and innovation in ASEAN.
While Elizabeth Duyao from the Philippines, a student at Monash University, presented "An Inclusive Lens Approach for Digital Learning."
She emphasized the importance of inclusivity in digital education to ensure equitable access for all.
The celebration continued with captivating cultural performances from each country, showcasing their unique traditions and talents. Attendees were treated to a delightful potluck of ASEAN cuisines, further enhancing the cultural exchange experience.
It reaffirmed the importance of regional cooperation and people-to-people connections in strengthening ties among ASEAN countries and with Australia.
As information, the event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including the Consul General of Malaysia, Honorable Mr. Nik Muhammad Nasyron Syah Bin Nik Daud.Â
Also, the Consul General of the Philippines, Honorable Mrs. Maria Lourdes M. Salcedo, and representative of the Department of Foreign Affairs Australia (DFAT), Luke Morgan.Â
Both Consul General highlighted the significance of regional cooperation, expressing that ASEAN's unity nowadays has become our strength, and together can address global challenges more effectively.
