Indonesia, Japan Agree to Upgrade Partnership Status

Jakarta – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) praised the agreement to upgrade Indonesia and Japan's partnership to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
"I am pleased that Indonesia and Japan have agreed to raise their partnership status to comprehensive strategic," The Head of State said during a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, on Thursday.
According to the Head of State, the current top priority is to navigate the course of concrete cooperation that can bring benefits to the people.
“This is our duty to navigate the course of our cooperation so that it can bring real benefits to the people and contribute to stability and peace,”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Japan, Kishida said that he was happy to meet President Joko Widodo again after their last meeting in Hiroshima in May on the sidelines of the G7 Summit.
"I would like to express my respect to His Excellency Mr. President (Joko Widodo) who has an important role as the chair of ASEAN, and I hope that we can coordinate further to maintain and strengthen the international order that is free and open based on the rule of law," PM Kishida stated.
In this context, PM Kishida said, the strategic partnership between the two countries must be bolstered again.
"I am very pleased that we can announce a joint statement on the comprehensive strategic partnership establishment between the two countries," he added.
