Jakarta – Bakrie and Brothers Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Anindya Novyan Bakrie revealed that ASEAN has potential to become the global economic production center.
"The world currently has several challenges because of the condition of developed countries. For ASEAN, many factors encourage economic growth in this region," Anindya Bakrie said at the Envisioning ASEAN's Economic Future Trends, Transformations, and Triumphs event on Monday.
Anindya Bakrie gave an example, "such as from the demand side and supply side we see that the growth in consumer demand is quite clear that people are more consumptive, but also want to be efficient,"
The drivers of economic growth in ASEAN not only come from the manufacturing sector. Indonesia is now making battery for electric vehicles, Bakrie said.
"In Indonesia, we can make battery materials for electric vehicles in Asia and the world. This is a discussion that may not be mature. But we see in other countries such as Vietnam they are already very focused on electric vehicles and so on," Bakrie explained.
Therefore, Bakrie said countries in ASEAN need to collaborate to create a balance between distribution and supply chain.
"Although this is all good, we need capital but we also need technology, need policies. Therefore, we must work together as ASEAN even though we are rivals," Bakrie remarked.
