TMII Becomes Exhibition Place for ASEAN Summit

Jakarta – The Indonesian Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPRBasuki Hadimuljono stated that Taman Mini Indonesia Indah or TMII will become the exhibition location to implement the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta.

"TMII will be the location of the exhibition and can be enjoyed by various ASEAN member countries," Minister Hadimuljono said in Jakarta on Saturday. 

TMII will be the location of the exhibition (spouse program) in the framework of the 43rd ASEAN Summit, in Jakarta on September 5-7, 2023, the Minister added.

"Arrangements are also made to return. TMII is an icon and large-scale public space in Jakarta, such as Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) and Ragunan Wildlife Park which have been a tourist destination since the 1970s,”

TMII revitalization done since January 2022 has been completed with state budget (APBN) cost IDR 1.07 trillion. This concept has been returned as per the initial master plan, proposing the green area concept with 70 percent of green open space and 30 percent of buildings. 

The scope of work includes the arrangement of the main gate area, renovation of the main corridors of Sasono Utomo, Sasono Langgeng Budoyo, and Sasono Adiguno, renovation of Museum Indonesia, landscape arrangement of platforms and pedestrians, arrangement of the outer ring (bus stops), parking area, and management building. 

Furthermore, the landscape arrangement of the islands in Lake Archipelago (promenade, pedestrian platform, and amphitheater), renovation of the Garuda Theater Museum, Telkom Museum, and Keong Mas, including the construction of a parking building with an elevated design, road paving, and dredging of Lake Archipelago. 

"This is by President Joko Widodo's order to make TMII with its new face as a people's tourist destination that is greener, more comfortable, and healthier," the Minister explained. 

By embracing the concept of inclusive, culture, and smartness, TMII's new face can become a big icon of tourism in Jakarta as well as the pride of Indonesia.
