West Java – Depok city government through the Mayor Mohammad Idris issued new regulations regarding air pollution that has been a concern lately.
As information, starting on Monday, September 4, the Depok State Civil Apparatus (ASN) is encouraged to ride a motorcycle with two passengers. Meanwhile, car is encouraging to have a minimum of three passengers.
This is stated in the Mayor's Instruction Number 12 of 2023 concerning Air Pollution Controlling in Depok City.
"Starting with the use of four-wheeled vehicles with a minimum of three passengers and two-wheeled vehicles with two passengers. So don't go to the office on a motorcycle alone. This is our instruction," Depok Mayor Mohammad Idris stated on Friday.
In addition, the implementation of work from home (WFH) is also regulated. Later, as many as 30 percent of Depok ASN will do WFH. The implementation of WFH is carried out with priority for those at risk of illness, pregnant women, nursing mothers and the elderly.
"Coordinate with regional apparatus in regulating WFH by paying attention to organizational performance achievements," he explained.
Furthermore, Depok city government also regulates motor vehicle emission tests. The goal is to reduce exhaust emissions from motorized vehicles.
"Conduct emission tests for private vehicles to reduce exhaust emissions from motorized vehicles. So all vehicles are required to conduct emission tests to Transportation Department and Environmental Department," Idris urged.
Mayor Idris also asked not to burn garbage carelessly. Because, it's still often found that residents burn garbage around their place of residence.
"Don't burn garbage that is not in accordance with the predetermined technical requirements,"
The use of mask is also regulated in the regulation when air pollution is high with air quality in the unhealthy category.
Then, Depok City Government will take measurements based on the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU). This tool has been standardized by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
"Our ISPU today has a good value based on tools from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the value is 37. This is a very good quality level, it does not have a negative effect on humans and plant animals," he stated.
This ISPU is used as a benchmark to see the level of air pollution in Depok, "We want a recommended tool, and not a cheap tool, not a self-made tool, but indeed from the ministry. It's located in the new City Hall," he continued.
However, this ISPU tool is still not enough to measure the overall condition of Depok because it is currently only installed in several locations.
"This tool is still lacking, at least we assume Depok is 20 thousand hectares, there are at least 50 integrated tools," he said.
