Jokowi Hopes New Face of TMII Can Be Icon for Indonesian Tourism

Jakarta – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Friday inaugurated the revitalization of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in Jakarta, and hopes that the new face of TMII will become a big icon of Indonesian tourism.
"I hope with this new face, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah will become a big icon of tourism in Jakarta, and also in Indonesia," the Head of state remarked on Friday.
The revitalization that was carried out also returned TMII to the initial spirit initiated by Mrs. Tien Soeharto. TMII revitalization has the green open space concept.
"During the day, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah should be cooler because the concept has been returned as in the initial master plan, which is 70 percent green open space and 30 percent buildings," the President explained.
In addition to having the green concept, all museum buildings and regional platforms at TMII have been beautified and revitalized by carrying out inclusive, cultural, and smart concepts.
"The public now can visit and enjoy the new face of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah which is more organized, greener, more beautiful, and more comfortable,"
On the same occasion, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Erick Thohir said the revitalization of TMII was a collaboration between three ministries, namely the Ministry of State Secretariat, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), and the Ministry of SOEs.
"The Minister of State Secretary, Mr. Pratikno, at that time assigned both of us, Mr. Hadimuljono, Minister of PUPR and my Minister of SOEs, to renovate Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, which indeed has historical significance for Indonesia," Minister Thohir informed.
TMII revitalizstion has been carried out since January 2022 and have cost around IDR 1,070 billion. In addition, state-owned company Injourney also disbursed a budget of around IDR 200 billion for beutification and others.
Furthermore, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno revealed that TMII was prepared as one of the locations for the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
"Later there will be a spouse program aimed at accompanying the heads of state or government which will be held on September 6, 2023 , in the afternoon," Minister Uno said.
The spouse program will be held on the cultural stage overlooking Lake Archipelago TMII. There delegates and tourists can see miniature islands in the country, ranging from Sumatra to Papua.
At night, Archipelago Lake TMII will light up reflecting red and white lights. This attraction is enlivened by a dancing fountain that presents a sophisticated light show.
This dancing fountain is held every night near the lake with miniature islands in Indonesia.
In addition, TMII also presents various entertainment facilities and services such as cable cars, bird parks, Indonesian museums, contemporary museums, and platforms of all Indonesian provinces.
