This aligns with the outcomes of the cross-Ministry/Agency and Local Government meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment last week.

"The Ministry of Industry is tasked with overseeing emissions generated by the industrial sector. Therefore, we encourage industrial companies and industrial zone managers with their own power plants to control their exhaust gas emissions," said Eko S. A. Cahyanto, the Director-General of Resilience, Zoning, and International Industrial Access at the Ministry of Industry in Karawang, West Java.

The Director-General also conveyed that the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, has formed and established an inspection team for controlling emissions from the industrial sector in the Jakarta Capital Region, Banten, and West Java.

"We will soon take several steps, such as conducting an inventory of all industrial sectors in those provinces, to analyze and identify the number of industries with their own power plants accurately," Eko explained.

"This is one of our focuses in data collection, so that we can make informed policies," he added.

Eko stated that the Ministry of Industry is proactively guiding the industrial sector through inspection implementation.

"There are four things we will do: periodic examination of reports from the industrial sector in the National Industrial Information System (SIINas). Next, we conduct direct field supervision to verify the consistency with the industry's reports, including their environmental documents," he explained.

The third effort is for the Ministry of Industry to conduct audits when necessary, for instance, in case of violations by the industrial sector.

"Lastly, we can verify the compliance with mandatory legal regulations by industrial companies and industrial zones," he concluded. These efforts are believed to maintain industrial sector activities and a conducive business environment within the country.
