Jakarta – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) explained that the reason why Government is aggressively providing incentive for electric vehicle, both motorcycle and car. According to President, the government must follow global competition in making a policy.
"Many people have asked why we provide incentives to buyers of electric cars," President Widodo said at the Nusantara IV Building of the MPR RI, Parliament Complex Senayan on Friday.
The number is very large, namely for motor vehicles around IDR 7 million and electric cars are subsidized by approximately IDR 70 million.
As example, Thailand subsidizes electric cars at around IDR 68 million. Therefore, the Head of State said the government needs to make decisions by looking at competitor countries so that investment can enter Indonesia.
"If we are below that, all investments will go there, they won't enter Indonesia,"
Therefore, President Jokowi said Indonesia cannot only look within itself or feel that it is enough and already good. According to him, Indonesia must look right and left or other countries to match competitors.
"We must adjust ourselves better than our competitors like that, meaning what we have to do. That must be formulated, we must learn what other countries are doing," President remarked.
