TikTok Allows Users Add Text-only Posts to Compete Twitter, Threads

Jakarta – TikTok is now allowing users to post written content on the video sharing app, making it the latest social media platform to compete Twitter and Threads.Â
"The change is designed to give the written creativity we've seen in comments, captions, and videos a dedicated space to shine," the company said through a press release as quoted by Forbes site.Â
The app’s text-based posts look similar to Instagram stories in that they can be shared with music or a sound, stickers and a location and they can still be duetted and reposted like videos or photos shared on the app.
Users make text posts in the same way they create videos or photos, and the post appears as text with similar font options to Instagram stories over a colored background.
The launch of TikTok’s text-based feature comes just weeks after Meta released Threads, an Instagram offshoot many considered the strongest challenger to Twitter.
As information, text posts appear similar to Instagram Stories visually that users can add a background color, edit how text appears, and add music and stickers to the post. Posts have a 1,000-character limit.Â
Other users can also engage with the post similar to how they interact with video by stitching, dueting, and commenting.
