Yogyakarta – Indonesia successfully becomes the runner-up in the 2023 Badminton Asia Junior Championships. This is a tournament organized by the Badminton Asia governing body to crown the best junior badminton players (under 19) in Asia.

This followed the defeat of the men's doubles Muhammad Al Farizi/Nikolaus Joaquin from Japan's representatives Kenta Matsukawa / Daigo Tanioka in the final round on Tuesday.

In the match held at GOR Amongrogo, Yogyakarta, Farizi/Joaquin had to recognize the Matsukawa/Tanioka pair through a rubber game battle with a score of 11-21, 21-19, 13-21.

In this match, the Farizi/Joaquin pair claimed to have played their best.

"We have played our best in this match. We have both played optimally and played our best," said Farizi as quoted from Indonesian Badminton Association or PBSI's official statement.

In this match, Farizi/Joaquin said they made many mistakes. When they were gaining momentum in the second game and excelling, in the third game their game declined so the couple from the Land of the Rising Sun won the victory and led Japan to become champions.

"When we were ahead in the second game, we lost focus in the deciding game. Now we want to get up and want to win," Farizi added. 

Indonesian team captain Alwi Farhan said he was proud of his colleagues. After careful preparation, they are proud of their achievements.

"I am proud of the struggle of my friends who have shown their best game. We are trying to get up to achieve even better results," Farhan said.
