President Jokowi Hopes Ewer Airport May Increase Asmat Economy

Asmat – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inspected and inaugurated Ewer Airport, Asmat Regency, South Papua on Thursday.
On that occasion, President Widodo said the economy of Asmat Regency, South Papua will be better and improved with the completion of the construction of Ewer Airport which facilitates the connectivity of people and goods.
"We want this Asmat Airport to be able to make the economy of the community better," President Jokowi said, when inaugurating the Ewer Airport Terminal, in Asmat Regency, South Papua,on Thursday.
The Head of State said that Ewer Airport is ready to be used to serve the transportation needs of the people in Asmat Regency. Jokowi emphasized that inter-provincial and inter-island connectivity is very significant to accelerate the mobility of people and goods.

"This will open up isolation, will speed up logistics delivery."
Currently, every week there are two flights from Timika, Central Papua to Asmat, four flights from Kamur to Asmat, and four flights from Merauke, South Papua,"This will open Asmat tourism will increase," the President said.
On the same occasion, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi explained that Ewer Airport has a distinctive character and will also become one of the tourist destinations to South Papua.
The minister believes that Ewer Airport will revive the economy and facilitate community activities in Asmat.
"The passengers who almost every day go in and out of Ewer, both to Timika and to Merauke, will help the community's economy and in the future we will improve it to be even better,"
