Ministry Builds Memorial Living Park Rumoh Geudong Pidie Aceh

Jakarta – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Cipta Karya will build the Memorial Living Park Rumoh Geudong Pidie Aceh.
This development is part of the government's recovery program, through the fulfillment of the constitutional rights of victims of past gross human rights violations. The construction is coordinated by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
Then, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD said that the government plans to build a Living Park at the former site of past gross human rights violations, Rumoh Geudong, in Pidie Regency, Aceh.
"The Ministry of PUPR is building a Human Rights Park at the Rumoh Geudong location which includes a mosque according to the request of the victims," Minister Mahfud said as Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Resolution of Past Gross Human Rights Violations (PP-HAM), in his statement on Friday.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Ministry of PUPR, Mohammad Zainal Fatah said, currently the development progress is only at the stage of completing the design concept, in the form of Panel Designs, Mockups, and 3D Video Concepts of Living Park and Mosque Designs. Based on the temporary design concept received,
Living Park is expected to not remind the families of the victims of past trauma and away from the gloomy impression.
"The scope of work includes entrance gates, pedestrians and roads, parking areas, parks and Peace Monuments, mosques and mosque plazas, playgrounds, hardscape, and other softscape," Fatah said.
It is known, later in the living park there will also be a mosque as a place of worship, as well as a park that can become a center of education, gathering, and playing for the community.
The design style will certainly focus on the uniqueness of the Pidie region, which will include ornaments, mosques, parks, and so on. It is hoped that this living park and mosque will be in harmony with the surrounding environment so that people can forget the dark events that happened in the past.
