President Jokowi Urges Minister to Renovate JIS Based on Standards
VIVA – The Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo briefly explains about the venue for the U-17 World Cup, which will take place from November 10 to December 2, 2023.Â
The plan is for the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) to be the venue for this international sporting event. However, several facility improvements must be taken care of by the government. Â
"Jakarta International Stadium still needs a lot of improvements such as access doors, parking, and so on," Minister Ariotedjo said on Wednesday, in Jakarta.Â
In fact, the Minister also said President Joko Widodo wants JIS to be renovated so that it meets national and international standards.Â
"President Jokowi also asked for JIS to be renovated according to standards. The target is that 22 stadiums in Indonesia will be capable to be used at any time."Â
As previously reported, Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) as the manager of Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) expressed its readiness to become the venue for the U-17 World Cup.
President Director of PT Jakpro Iwan Takwin said that his party is currently discussing the preparation of JIS to become the U-17 World Cup standard stadium.
As is known, FIFA has appointed Indonesia as the host of the U-17 World Cup and replaced Peru, which was unable to host the FIFA U-17 World Cup last April due to infrastructure unpreparedness.
