Minister Luhut Praises Indonesia-US Bilateral Cooperation

United States – The Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan attended a United States (US) Independence Day event on Tuesday - which was organized by the US Embassy.Â
Minister Panjaitan also delivered a speech and discussed Indonesia's cooperation with the US such as in the fields of economy, education, maritime affairs, and others.Â
"Economic cooperation is the main foundation of our relationship (Indonesia and the US). Trade between Indonesia and the US has reached a high point, and we aim to expand economic ties," Minister Panjaitan said in his speech.Â
"Relations between our peoples also continue to grow, in the areas of education, tourism, and contributions to conservation and culture," he added.Â
The minister also discussed the tenure of US Ambassador to Indonesia Sung Y. Kim. Kim's term will end this year. According to him, the US Ambassador is famous for his kindness, and he was saddened to hear that Kim's term would end this year.Â
"I heard that you (US Ambassador) will end your term in Indonesia. You are a very good person, a friend of Indonesia. I will say honestly that we enjoyed conversations, negotiations, and exchanging information with the Ambassador during your tenure in Indonesia."Â
On the same occasion, Minister Panjaitan extended his congratulations to the government and people of the United States who will celebrate the United States Independence Day on July 4, 2023.Â
"Congratulations again to the government and people of the United States. I wish you a Happy Independence Day."
