World Athletes Enliven Indonesian Table Tennis League

Jakarta – The Indonesian Table Tennis League Series 2 will be held on July 1 to July 4, 2023, at GOR Gondrong sports complex, in Cipondoh Tangerang. Several world athletes from China, Japan, India, Luxembourg, Singapore, and Malaysia will compete for a total prize of IDR 2.5 billion.
"This Series 2 will be more exciting because it is attended by players from countries that are the mainstays of table tennis, namely China and Japan," Chairman of the Indonesian Table Tennis League Singgih Yeheskiel said on Sunday.
Yeheskiel stated the Indonesian Table Tennis League will be held consistently until Series 8 as a form of commitment to advance the table tennis sport.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Jopie Warsono revealed that there are around 15 foreign players who will compete in addition to local athletes totaling approximately 100 players.
"There are 8 men's clubs and 6 women's clubs that will compete. Most of the clubs, both male and female, will be strengthened by foreign players," Warsono said.
He also said one of the players who stood out was Konishi Kai from Japan. This player has won bronze in the world championship. He has also won third place in the Asian championship.
Then, the Head of the Tangerang City Youth and Sports Office, Kaonang, welcomed the organization of this international event. Many venue facilities can be used to hold international events, one is GOR Gondrong.
As a buffer zone of the capital city, Tangerang City has many advantages such as many star hotels, and Soekarno Hatta International Airport which is located not far from the venue.
As well as the existence of a circular toll road that avoids congestion, "This event is in line with the mission of the city of Tangerang which prioritizes sports tourism," Kaonang remarked.
