World – WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging platforms in the world. Since it is used for everything from personal to business conversations, users may want to have two accounts to discuss personal and work life.
Since the Meta-owned service does not support multi-account functionality, creating a second app is the only way to use two WhatsApp accounts on the same phone.
This may soon change as WhatsApp seeks to allow users to log into multiple accounts from its app, according to the Android Police page on Friday.
WABetaInfo spotted the multi-account functionality in the latest WhatsApp Business beta for Android 2.23.13.5.
Once implemented, this change will allow users to log into multiple WhatsApp accounts from the same phone without the two apps clashing. There are also references to this feature coming to the regular version of the app as well.
Judging from the screenshot above, users may be able to switch between different accounts from the WhatsApp settings menu.
If you use the dual-SIM function on your phone and actively use WhatsApp on both numbers, multi-account support will make your life a lot easier. Users can manage conversations on both accounts from the same app.
It will also make it easier to manage notifications and share files.
It is not yet clear whether WhatsApp multi-account support will extend to companion devices or not. For now, it is expected that multi-account support in WhatsApp will first appear in the beta channel before being released to the public.
The platform's competitor, Telegram, already provides similar multi-account support in its app.
However, the Meta-owned platform has managed to significantly reduce feature strain, such as by rolling out features like Channels, message creation, Chat Lock and more.
