Jokowi Signs Presidential Regulation on Maritime, Fisheries Ministry

Jakarta – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has signed Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 38 of 2023 on the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. There are several things that are regulated, including the position of the deputy minister.
Article 1 of Presidential Regulation Number 38 of 2023 states that the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries is under and responsible to the President. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries is also led by a minister.
Article 2 states that the minister can be assisted by a deputy minister by the appointment of the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
"The deputy minister is appointed and dismissed by the President and is responsible to the minister. The deputy minister has the task of assisting the minister in leading the implementation of the duties of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries."
Meanwhile, the scope of duties of the deputy minister as referred to in Paragraph (4) includes (a) assisting the minister in formulating and/or implementing the policies of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, (b) assisting the Minister in coordinating the achievement of strategic policies across organizational units of Middle High Leadership Position or Echelon I within the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, (c) assisting the Minister in coordinating the achievement of strategic policies across organizational units of Middle High Leadership Position or Echelon I within the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
Meanwhile, Article 3 explains that the minister and deputy minister are a unified leadership element in the ministry.
Then, Article 4 regulates the duties of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, namely organizing government affairs in the field of marine and fisheries. The task is given to assist the President in organizing the state government.
