VIVA – Bluebird, as the leading mobility service in Indonesia has built a smart and large power solar panel with a capacity of 215.6 kWp, aims to reduce over 2,000 tons of carbon emissions per year.

This is in line with the company's commitment to sustainable environmental practices by implementing the use of renewable energy.

According to Andrianto Djokosoetono, Vice President Director of Bluebird, the implementation of solar panel aligns with Bluebird's sustainability vision in the BlueSky pillar, with the main agenda of a 50:30 goal, which aims to reduce emissions by 50 percent by 2030.

"The company's initiative to use solar energy has been planned since the launch of our sustainability vision last year. It is one of our efforts to improve environmental quality, which we have already started with the adoption of environmentally friendly vehicles and the implementation of the 3R initiative (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle)," said Djokosoetono during the inauguration of the Solar Panel at Bluebird's Head Office in South Jakarta on Tuesday.

He also stated, "We recognize that reducing emissions to improve air quality can be done in various ways, and one of them is through a clean energy transition by harnessing sunlight, which we project can reduce 2,000 tons of carbon emissions per year."

The construction of the solar panel system for the company is supported by the renewable energy resources in Indonesia, particularly the unlimited solar energy.

In the development of this solar panel, Bluebird collaborated with SUN Energy to supply clean energy to their operational areas and offices.

The collaboration is in the form of a partnership, where Bluebird pays approximately IDR 2 billion each month.

"If the investment for a solar panel is around 1 megawatt, it costs IDR 10 billion. Meanwhile, Bluebird's solar panel is approximately 215 kWp, which costs around IDR 2 billion," CEO of Sun Energy, Roy Wijaya said.

SUN Energy hopes that Bluebird's concrete action will inspire other industry players to embark on their sustainability journey through the adoption of clean and environmentally friendly alternative energy sources, Wijaya added.
