VIVA – Hundreds of fishermen who carried out the cleanup action are fishermen who usually catch fish and other biota in the waters of Banyuwangi Regency.

Together, they cleaned up food packaging, tree branches, and beverage bottles that were scattered on the beach.

"How can we keep the environment clean. We clean the beach from garbage," said the Regional Coordinator of the Banyuwangi Regency Coastal Fishermen Community, Muhammad Fajar Sidik.

According to Sidik, a clean beach environment has a positive impact on the lives of the general public. Especially the fishermen who make their living in the coastal area.

Sidik also said that biological resources in the sea, which are the source of income for fishermen, will also be abundant because the environment is free from pollution due to waste.

"Therefore, we also educate fishermen about the environment. Where the environment is about how to actually protect nature on the coast," Sidik added.

Through this activity, he hopes that his fellow coastal fishermen in Banyuwangi Regency can feel the cleanliness of the environment. He also advised them to take care of nature.

"Our hope from the East Java Coastal Fishermen Community is to support Ganjar Pranowo to make fishermen more prosperous. We can both protect the environment and take care of our health. The most important thing is nature," he said.

Meanwhile, the Regional Coordinator of East Java Fishermen Supporting Ganjar, Sutriyadi, said that the enthusiasm of coastal fishermen in cleaning the beach was very high.
