VIVA – Hundreds of fishermen who carried out the cleanup action are fishermen who usually catch fish and other biota in the waters of Banyuwangi Regency.

Together, they cleaned up food packaging, tree branches, and beverage bottles that were scattered on the beach.

"How can we keep the environment clean. We clean the beach from garbage," said the Regional Coordinator of the Banyuwangi Regency Coastal Fishermen Community, Muhammad Fajar Sidik.

According to Sidik, a clean beach environment has a positive impact on the lives of the general public. Especially the fishermen who make their living in the coastal area.

Sidik also said that biological resources in the sea, which are the source of income for fishermen, will also be abundant because the environment is free from pollution due to waste.

"Therefore, we also educate fishermen about the environment. Where the environment is about how to actually protect nature on the coast," Sidik added.

Through this activity, he hopes that his fellow coastal fishermen in Banyuwangi Regency can feel the cleanliness of the environment. He also advised them to take care of nature.

"Our hope from the East Java Coastal Fishermen Community is to support Ganjar Pranowo to make fishermen more prosperous. We can both protect the environment and take care of our health. The most important thing is nature," he said.

Meanwhile, the Regional Coordinator of East Java Fishermen Supporting Ganjar, Sutriyadi, said that the enthusiasm of coastal fishermen in cleaning the beach was very high.

Especially when the cleaning action is carried out in mutual cooperation.

"We encourage them to maintain the ecosystem. The marine ecosystem so that this sea is really maintained. If it is maintained, God willing, it will also support income," he said.

Sutriyadi is also committed that his party will continue to mobilize positive and beneficial activities to serve the coast in the East Java region. He hopes that these activities can consistently continue.

"For the next activity we will be in the Jember area and of course in other cities. In Jember we will hold an activity with the theme of marine ecosystem conservation by planting mangrove tree seedlings," he concluded.

On that occasion, the East Java Coastal Fishermen Community supported Ganjar by providing fish boxes and trash cans to coastal fishermen in Banyuwangi Regency. The assistance is expected to be useful to support the fishermen's work.
