Jokowi Asks Macron to Support Indonesia's Membership in the FATF

VIVA – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a bilateral meeting with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron during the G7 Summit at Hiroshima, Japan, on Sunday.
In this meeting, President Jokowi asked President Macron to support Indonesia's membership in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the completion of the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (Indonesia-EU CEPA) by 2024.
"First thing, I hope France will support Indonesia to be accepted as a FATF member because Indonesia is the only G20 member state that has not yet become a FATF Member," the President stated in a statement on Sunday.
Second, President Jokowi asked President Macron to support Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IUE-CEPA) could be finalized next year.
Third, both leaders also discussed strategic sector investments, such as the participation of French companies in Indonesia's downstream projects.
Then, there is also French assistance through The Agence Française de Développement (AFD) of EUR500 million, and the Just Energy Transition Partnership.
President Widodo considered it necessary to encourage the follow-up of Hydrogene de France's (HDF) cooperation with PT Bukit Asam, for hydrogen-based technology.
This is in addition to the cooperation between the Center de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement (CIRAD) and Yayasan Biru Indonesia, for sustainable development.
"Indonesia also opens investment to build the IKN Nusantara in the fields of infrastructure, green energy, and 'eco-tourism'. We have prepared investment incentives and facilities," President Jokowi informed.
He stated that in the field of defense and the main weapon system (alutsista), he also welcomed the joint venture plan of PT Len Industri and Thales," President Widodo said.
"Let's continue to encourage technology transfer, knowledge transfer, and joint production. I invite the participation of the French private sector in the implementation of concrete AOIP cooperation. I also invite France's participation in the ASEAN-Indo-Pacific Forum in Jakarta in September," he concluded.
