Two Indonesian Swimmers Win Gold in 50-meter Backstroke at SEA Games

VIVA – Two Indonesian swimmers, I Gede Siman Sudartawan and Masniari Wolf successfully won gold medals in the 50-meter backstroke at the 2023 SEA Games, on Sunday.
Sudartawan became the fastest in the men's category with a record time of 25.16 seconds. He outperformed Filipino swimmer Jerard Dominic Jacinto who had to settle for silver after posting 25.56 seconds.
Meanwhile, the bronze belongs to the defending champion from Singapore Zheng Wen Quah with 25.61 seconds.
In the women's category, Mansiari Wolf successfully won gold after clocking 28.89 seconds.
She successfully defended the gold medal won last year at the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam. Even the time record was better at that time with 29.21 seconds.
Wolf managed to beat Thai swimmer Saovanee Boonamphai in second place with 28.97 seconds and Teai Isabella from Philippines who was third with 28.99 seconds.
With this result, Indonesian swimming has collected two gold and one silver. A day earlier, Farrel Armandio Tangkas won silver in the men's 100-meter backstroke after posting 55.80 seconds.
He was behind Singapore representative Zheng Wen Quah who secured gold by posting 55.22 seconds. The bronze belonged to Philippine swimmer Jerrard Dominic Jacinto with 55.99 seconds.
