VIVA – Indonesia successfully adds two gold medals in Pencak Silat artistic numbers at the 2023 SEA Games. This match held at the Chroy Changvar Convention Center, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Sunday.
Puspa Arum Sari got the first gold in the Indonesian martial arts sport through the artistic women's singles with a score of 9.97 against Malaysian opponents.
Sari's victory was then continued by her fellow countrymen in the artistic men's team category. The team of Anggi Faisal Mubarok, Asep Yuldan Sani, and Rano Slamet Nugraha also won gold after overthrowing Thailand.
"We are grateful to get two golds in the women's singles final on behalf of Puspa Arum Sari, and in the men's team on behalf of Asep, Anggi, and Rano. And, this result is according to our plan and we are grateful," said the Head Coach of the Indonesian Pencak Silat National Team Indro Catur Haryono.
The women's doubles pair Ririn Rinasih and Riska Hermawan also dropped into the final party in the artistic women's doubles today. However, Indonesia, which decided to have a score of 9.915 or 0.030 points below the Thailand pair, protested and appealed, so the medal ceremony in that number was postponed.
Haryono assessed that the Indonesian pair was still superior in various aspects including stamina and diversity of movements. "We'll wait for the results later," said Haryono.
Meanwhile, based on temporary reports, Indonesia is now in third place in the Cambodia SEA Games 2023 standings. The Red and White team is behind the Cambodia and Thailand so far.
Indonesia managed to collect a total of 51 medals. This includes 16 gold, 11 silver, and 24 bronze medals.
