Minister Plate Ensures Internet Network Readiness for ASEAN Summit

VIVA – The Indonesian Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G. Plate ensures that the telecommunications and quality internet network will be ready for the 42nd ASEAN Summit on May 9 to May 11, in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). 

"We continue to prepare sufficient internet network quality as a broadcast requirement during the event, including cellular and fixed networks," he stated in an official release, on Wednesday. 

According to Minister Plate, this will make the bandwidth sufficient so that data upload and download can be done properly and adequately.

Ministry of Communication and Informatics, and Telkom Indonesia are also preparing a back-up network to ensure that the internet network remains optimal during the 42nd ASEAN Summit. 

"It is almost complete or soon to be completed 100 percent ready. (The Sea Cable Communication System Network) we need to focus, so 42nd ASEAN Summit runs smoothly and our people benefit from it," he explained. 

In addition to monitoring from Telkom Indonesia's NOC in West Manggarai, the government has also alerted the Directorate General of Post and Information Resources and Devices' Radio Frequency Spectrum Monitoring Centers in Surabaya, Denpasar, Mataram, and Kupang.

They will be in charge of monitoring the frequency spectrum during the ASEAN Summit. Telkom has also prepared monitoring to prevent frequency spectrum interference. The Minister hopes that through the Network Operation Center, monitoring can be done well.
