VIVA – Eight percent of Indonesia entered the dry season at the end of April 2023, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

Acting Deputy for Climatology BMKG, Dodo Gunawan said the eight percent includes the following areas; Eastern Aceh, eastern North Sumatra, southern Riau, small parts of Nusa Tenggara, southern Gorontalo, eastern Central Sulawesi, eastern South Sulawesi, southern Southeast Sulawesi, parts of Maluku Islands, and parts of North Maluku.

Gunawan also said that in Dasarian III April 2023, several areas are generally predicted to experience rainfall with low to medium criteria (20-150 mm/day).

He continued: "Areas predicted to experience low rainfall criteria or less than 50 mm/day are in most of North Maluku and Maluku, parts of Sumatra, Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, a small part of West Papua, and Papua,"

Then, while areas predicted to experience moderate rain criteria (50-150 mm/day) are in most of West Papua and Papua, parts of Sumatra, Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, a small part of North Maluku and Maluku.

In addition, areas predicted to experience high to very high category rain or more than 150 mm/day include western and southern West Java, West Flores, Kupang, and northern South Sulawesi.
