Indonesia Sends 599 Athletes to Compete in 2023 SEA Games

VIVA – In the 2023 SEA Games, the Indonesian government sends 599 athletes – consisting of 379 men and 220 women. They will compete in 31 sports out of 36 sports competed.
Through this, the Minister of Youth and Sports; Dito Ariotedjo together with NOC Indonesia President; Raja Sapta and Koni Central Secretary General; Ade Lukman as well as Review Team Chairman; Prof. M. Asmawi will target the Indonesian contingent to bring 60 gold medals.
"For the gold medal target, we want to stay in third place with a target of 60 gold," Minister Ariotedjo conveyed at the Media Center of the Youth and Sports Ministry, Jakarta, some time ago.
As information, at the Vietnam 2021 SEA Games, the Indonesian contingent amounted to 499 athletes. Indonesia at that time, ranked third in the previously SEA Games medal standings by packing 69 gold, 91 silver, and 81 bronze.
According to the Minister, there are no obstacles in the announcement of the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games contingent.
"I just want to do a review and also the details of the contingent because I hope with a thorough and detailed review, an effective and efficient contingent will be obtained as directed by President Joko Widodo," he explained.
From the beginning, the Minister added, the President asked him to make sure that every contingent departure must be effective, and efficient and make sure that what is sent to international multi-events is indeed what can win medals and achievements for Indonesia.
"Alhamdulillah, the collaboration with the NOC, Center of KONI, and the Review Team going well," he stated.
