Jokowi Urges People to Get Vaccinated as COVID-19 Spread Increases

VIVA – The Indonesian President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has urged people to get the vaccination, both in the first dose or the second booster. He said it is important to do as dealing with the increasing trend of the Covid-19 spread.
"Currently, the spread of Covid is starting to increase but we do not need to react excessively. Because of it, I remind you of the importance of vaccination, both the first and second vaccinations, as well as the first and second booster," President Jokowi said in a statement at the Bogor Presidential Palace, on Wednesday.
Then, President Widodo also explains to the public to stay careful and continue to follow the government's recommendations, such as health protocols – wearing masks if you feel sick. It aims to reduce Covid-19 cases.
"I ask those people who feel flu or fever to use a mask, as well as those who have comorbidities to use a mask, and if you meet the elderly you should also use a mask," he urged.
Moreover, the President also reminded the public to maintain cleanliness by washing hands after activities, "Do not forget to wash your hands after doing activities."
According to data from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, as of April 19, 2023, some 6.760.755 19 Indonesians have confirmed to be affected by Covid-19. And, recorded cases of death due to Covid-19 as many as 161.152 people.
Based on this, it will be better if people get vaccinated, especially when join the Eid homecoming trend in 2023.
